President's Message

Hi Ladies:
Our March Luncheon was so much fun! We all really enjoyed Donovan Allison and Jeffrey Michaels who entertained us with old and new country songs. We had lots of positive comments and will definitely have them back again. Next time, we’ll gather a list of requested songs, let them know ahead of time and then enjoy a sort of “command” performance!

March is here and Spring is right around the corner. It’s the time of the year to do some spring cleaning and pack-up some of those things you no longer need or want. The ideal place to get rid of these things is our Rummage Sale which is coming up on Saturday, April 7th. (Friday the 6th is the drop-off day.) There will be a limited pick-up service available on that Thursday, and if you have any questions, you can call Ginger Robertson at (702) 277-5987. We hope to make the Rummage Sale a big success again this year and with all your time and effort, I know we can! Thank you, and God bless you.

Since it’s March, St. Patrick’s Day is on the calendar and I’d like to wish all of you a safe, happy and fun holiday! The clubhouse is having a Corned Beef and Cabbage dinner from 6:00 PM to 9:30 PM, and the Sassie Singers are entertaining --- it promises to be another enjoyable event!

Our first community social for the year coming on Saturday, May 19th. We’re all looking forward to (Los Prados Women’s Club version of…) the Kentucky Derby! We will be selling tickets at our April meeting, but if you want to buy them sooner, call Ginger Fein at (702) 396-1088. This is a community-wide event, so invite friends, neighbors, and family. Tickets are $26 each and include a no-host bar, a buffet dinner and access to the races.

Our last Derby was in 2009, so lots of you may not know what it’s all about. In a nutshell: Six jockeys, astride their trusty steeds, line-up on a marked course and move the number of spaces determined by a throw of the dice. The first “horse” to cross the finish line wins the race! Spectators bet ($2 a bet) on the horse (or horses) of their choice and winning bets are paid at the betting window. There are seven races, so we need plenty of jockeys and are signing-up volunteers now. Join the fun and submit your name --- it’s a blast! We will have great food, a 50/50 raffle, a $100.00-dollar spa-day raffle for the ladies, and a Kentucky Derby Hat Contest. Remember to put May 19th on your calendar and get your tickets early!

Speaking of hats…We’d like all the ladies who want to wear their Spring hats to do so at our April Luncheon. We’re planning a little hat parade, and if you’d like to participate call Margie MacKenzie at (702) 845-3378.

Looking forward to seeing you all at the April Luncheon on the 13th. Until then, enjoy the rest of March and keep praying for the people of Los Prados who are still fighting the flu, bronchitis and pneumonia. Thanks again, Ladies, for all your support!

Charities' Luncheon

Friday the 12th of January was a very special day for the Los Prados Women's Club! This was the luncheon where our annual charity checks were distributed to fifteen local, deserving charities. This year we were able to donate $14,500 (not including our Outreach donations during the year). Representatives from the charities shown below joined us for a delicious lunch and received their checks in person. This amazing event was the culmination of all the hard work we do all year long. Congratulations to our members for a job well done, and to the recipient charities for the good work they do!
